Kenmare is nestled in South West Ireland and its natural beauty offers many outdoor pursuits whether you are Historian or Sports Fanatic, Golfer, Walker, Cyclist, Tri Athletic, Runner, Water Enthusiast - Kenmare has it all. Kenmare is the gate way to the Ring of Beara and Ring of Kerry scenic drives and ideally located on the Wild Atlantic Way. Kenmare's neat triangle of the streets are lined with craft shops, galleries, cafes and good quality restaurants.
The Kerry coast
The Ring of Kerry is a scenic drive around the Iveragh Peninsula. Its 179km-long, circular route takes touches rugged and verdant coastal landscapes and rural seaside villages. Highlights are the Skellig Rocks, rocky islands with an abandoned 7th-century Christian monastery. More popular points include Muckross House (near Killarney), Staigue stone fort and Derrynane House, home of Daniel O'Connell near Caherdaniel. Just south of Killarney, Ross Castle, Lough Leane, and Ladies View (a panoramic viewpoint), are all located within Killarney National Park.
Eyeries Beara
The Ring of Beara scenic drive brings you along the Atlantic Ocean through some wild and relatively unexplored landscape and colourful little villages. The Ring of Beara is lesser known to tourists than the Ring of Kerry is. Those lucky enough to visit this hidden gem will encounter lush natural beauty, wild landscapes, unspoilt seascapes and the warm welcome of the Irish people.
